Before I left San Diego I drove to Mission Beach, San Diego’s boardwalk. Belmont Park, the amusement park on Mission Beach, has one of the oldest wooden roller coasters (The Giant Dipper) still in use. This was the final stop before I start heading back east.
A made a brief pit-stop in Yuma Arizona about half way between San Diego and Scottsdale. Besides grabbing a bite to eat I was curious how it felt to step out into 103 degrees (40 deg C) heat. Earlier I stuck my hand out the car window at 80 mph. It felt like holding it under the hand dryer, except a little stronger air pressure.
